This 2015 Grenache came from a steep hillside vineyard east of St. Helena – the grapes are small, which is very unusual for Grenache, resulting in a more deeply colored and concentrated wine. The medium ruby color leads to aromas of pretty, lifted and vibrant fruit. Berry flavors (raspberry and strawberry) are foremost, with nice ripe richness and depth. Soft across the palate with delicate tannins and a subtle white pepper spicy note. A beautiful example of this varietal grown in a dramatic location. Delicious upon release and will continue to evolve and improve with a bit more time in the bottle.

La Sirena Winemaker Notes:  Announcing our fourth release of varietal Grenache from La Sirena! I have been making Grenache since 2007, but until recently have only had enough to use in our Pirate TreasuRed blend and our Rhone style “Le Barrettage” blend. Starting in 2012, we had enough to bottle this delicious Grenache.

The grapes came from a vineyard from the eastern hills of St. Helena, quite steep and rocky. This is the first year it is also blended with 15% Syrah, melding 2 of the most famous Rhone varietals in a bold Napa Valley style. – Heidi Barrett
